3 oz Unsalted Butter
8 oz All-Purpose Flour
14 oz Self-Rising Cornmeal Mix
1 oz Sugar
18.6 oz Buttermilk
2 Large Eggs
0.25 oz Freshly Ground Black Pepper
1: Combine Dry Ingredients
Preheat the oven to 450°. Then, use a large bowl to mix the flour, cornmeal, and sugar together.
2: Keep Mixin’
In a separate bowl, mix your wet ingredients: buttermilk, eggs, and 4 tablespoons of melted butter. Then, carefully add your wet ingredients to the dry mixture and stir to combine.
Set the batter aside.
3: Prep Your Skillet
On the stove, melt 2 tablespoons of butter inside your skillet over low heat for about 5 minutes.
5: Add the Batter
Pour your cornbread mixture into the preheated skillet, and sprinkle black pepper over the top.
Bake in the oven for 20 to 25 minutes. Once the edges are golden brown, it’s ready!
