Summary

These golden, syrup-soaked treats are more than just dessert—they’re symbols of warmth, sweetness, and prosperity.

Ingredients

1 Premade Mix (Gits or any brand of your choice)

1 tbsp ghee (for shaping)

cup milk

Oil (for deep frying)

1 cup sugar

1 ¼ cups water

2 green cardamom pods, crushed

Pinch of saffron

¼ tsp lemon juice

Optional: Chopped pistachios for garnish

Directions

1. Prepare the Dough

Start with your premade Gulab Jamun mix and follow the instructions on the box. We used Gits mix and added milk to form a smooth dough. Thenm add a little ghee to your hands and shape the dough into small, even balls (not too big; they’ll puff up!).

2. Make the Syrup

In a saucepan, mix the sugar, water, crushed cardamom, and saffron. Bring it to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Let it cook down until it’s thick and aromatic, then remove from the heat and stir in the lemon juice.

3. Fry the Balls

Heat the oil in a deep pan. Fry the dough balls on medium heat until they turn golden brown all over, keeping them moving so they don’t brown too quickly on one side. Once they’re beautifully golden, set them aside to cool.

4. Soak the Jamuns

Add your golden-brown Jamun balls to the warm syrup and let them soak for at least 2 hours or refrigerate overnight. The longer you wait, the sweeter they become. Patience pays off here!

5. Serve and Garnish

When you're ready, serve warm, drizzle a little extra syrup over each Gulab Jamun, and top with chopped pistachios!

Notes

1. Cool Before the Syrup

Let those fried balls cool slightly before soaking them in syrup. This helps them stay firm and not fall apart.

2. Longer Soak, Better Flavor

If you can, let them soak overnight. That extra time makes the dessert even sweeter!

3. Add Ice Cream

Serve it warm with a scoop of ice cream on the side, and you’ve got an instant crowd-pleaser.
