Blast off to deliciousness with these fun UFO Cake Pops! They're perfect for parties, kids, or anyone who loves a playful treat. Let’s get started!
1. Bake the Cake
Prepare the white cake according to the box instructions and let it cool completely.
2. Crumble and Mix
Once the cake is cooled, crumble it into a large bowl until fine crumbs form. Then, add softened cream cheese and mix until well combined. The mixture should hold together when pressed.
3. Shape the Cake Pops
Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls and flatten one side slightly to resemble the base of a UFO. Then, place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and freeze them for about 30 minutes to firm up.
4. Melt the Candy
Melt black and white Candy Melts to make a spaceship gray.
Create a double boiler by filling a saucepan 1/4 of the way with water and bringing it to a simmer – be careful not to let it boil. Then, place a metal bowl into the pot. Make sure the bottom of the bowl doesn’t touch the water. Add the melts to the bowl and stir CONSTANTLY until the candy is melted and smooth.
Or, use the sous vide method. Place the candy melts in a vacuum-sealed bag and submerge them. Set the sous vide to 115° and let the candy melt for 5 minutes.
5. Dip and Decorate
Insert a lollipop stick into into the cake saucer. Next, tip the pop upside down and dip it into the candy melts, covering it completely. Allow excess to drip off, and repeat until each pop is covered.
Before the coating sets, press a gumdrop onto the top of each cake pop to create the UFO dome. Then, decorate the sides with M&M’s to look like the lights on a UFO.
6. Set and Serve
Place the cake pops in a styrofoam block or a cake pop stand to set completely. Once set, they’re ready to serve! Enjoy your intergalactic treats!
