Summary

These homemade Cheez-Its are crispy, salty, and packed with real cheddar flavor, without all the extra ingredients. Make a batch once and you'll never go back to the box.

Ingredients

8 Oz Sharp Cheddar Cheese

4 Tbsp Salted Butter

½ Tsp Seasoned Salt

½ Tsp Garlic Powder

1 Cup All-Purpose Flour

23 Tbsp Ice Water

Directions

1. Make the Dough

In a food processor, combine shredded cheese, softened butter, seasoned salt, and garlic powder. Pulse until the mixture is crumbly. Add the flour and pulse until it looks like coarse sand. Then, drizzle in ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time, and pulse until a dough forms.

2. Chill the Dough

Shape the dough into a disc, wrap it in plastic, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

3. Roll & Cut

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to about ¼-inch thick. Cut it into small, 1-inch squares, and use a skewer or toothpick to poke a hole in the center of each cracker.

4. Bake

Place squares on a parchment-lined baking sheet, and bake for 12–16 minutes, or until the edges are golden and crispy.

5. Cool & Snack

Let the crackers cool completely on a wire rack.

Store in an airtight container—or devour immediately.

Notes

1. Make ‘em Extra Crispy

Want extra crisp? Roll them a little thinner and bake a few minutes longer.

2. Get a Little Cheesy

Use extra-sharp cheddar for a bolder flavor, or mix in Parmesan for a twist.

3. Keen An Eye On Them

The crackers will continue to crisp as they cool, so be careful you don’t overbake!
