Cook Time: 3hr
Summary

Combine a love for flowers and focaccia, and make a bread that looks as good as it tastes!

Ingredients

For the Dough:

1 Cups Warm Tap Water

2 ½ Tsp Active Dry Yeast

4 Tbsp Extra-Virgin Olive Oil

3 ¼ Cups Unbleached All-Purpose Flour

3 Tsp Sea Salt

For the Topping:

1 Pinch Sea Salt

3 Tsp Extra-Virgin Olive Oil

2 - 3Orange & Yellow Sweet Peppers

1 Red Onion

1 Asparagus Stalk

2 Sprigs of Thyme & Rosemary

Directions

1. Activate Yeast

Activate your yeast by sprinkling it into a bowl of warm water. Drizzle in 3 TBSP of olive oil and whisk it all together. Then, set it aside.

2. Make That Dough

In a large bowl, combine salt and flour. Then, use a spatula to fold half of that flour mixture into the yeast. Add the rest of the flour and mix on a low speed for about three minutes.

3. Give it a Rest

Form the dough into a ball and place it into a well-oiled bowl. Make sure to flip it over so the oil coats all of the dough. Cover it with plastic wrap and let it rise for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.

4. Press into Skillet

Place the dough into a parchment-lined skillet and press and pat the dough until it fills the pan. Then, cover it once again to rest for 1 hour.

5. Dimple the Surface

Preheat the oven to 450°. Then, once the dough has doubled in size, remove the covering and dimple the surface with your fingertips.

Brush on the remaining olive oil and sprinkle with sea salt before unleashing your inner artist to create a museum-worthy floral design.

6. Bake

Pop the skillet into the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes. Once the bread is golden brown and puffed around the edges, remove it from the oven.

Let it cool, then slice in and enjoy!

Notes

1. Warm Water

Use warm, not hot, water to activate the yeast effectively without killing it.

2. Extra Rise

For a fluffier focaccia, allow the dough to rise a bit longer if your kitchen is cool.

3. Gentle Handling

Be gentle when dimpling the dough to keep the air bubbles intact for a light, airy texture.
